The Omaha conglomerate Warren Buffett took control of in 1965 and built into a holding company of insurers, railroads, utilities and stock investments. Its annual shareholder letters, posted free back to 1977, are the closest thing finance has to a shared curriculum on capital allocation and business valuation.
