Ted Seides launched Capital Allocators in 2017 after a career that started under David Swensen at Yale and included co-founding Protégé Partners. The show has passed 800 episodes. Guests are mostly people who allocate institutional money, such as endowment, foundation, pension and sovereign wealth CIOs, along with the hedge fund, private equity, credit and real estate managers they back. Seides asks about manager selection, portfolio construction, governance and the details of running an investment office.
That makes it the closest free equivalent to sitting in on an allocator's due-diligence meetings. The archive includes Seth Klarman, Cliff Asness, Howard Marks and Michael Mauboussin, and a long run of conversations about the endowment model, including a tribute to Swensen from Charley Ellis.
The audio is free, but transcripts and some extra material are premium content. Listen if you want to work at, or raise money from, an institutional investor.
