Every January Aswath Damodaran rebuilds a large set of spreadsheets that summarize corporate finance and valuation data by industry and by region: betas and costs of capital, operating margins, effective tax rates, capital expenditures, working capital, debt ratios, dividends and buybacks, and pricing multiples. The 2026 update went up on January 9, and archived years let you track how any number has moved over time.
Two series get the most use on the Street. His implied equity risk premium for the S&P 500 is estimated monthly and backed by a history going to 1960, and his country default spreads and risk premiums table is the usual starting point for anyone valuing a business outside the US. Both come with his notes on method, so you can see exactly what goes into each figure.
Use it as a sanity check rather than an answer. When a model assumes margins or a multiple far outside the industry figure, you should be able to say why. Note that he no longer publishes company-level data, because his data providers no longer allow it.
